West Greenwich was established in 1741 when it divided from East Greenwich. East and West Greenwich were both named after Greenwich in Kent England. These New England communities have a long and deep history which began a new chapter as Exeter and West Greenwich merged to form Exeter-West Greenwich High School (EWGHS).
